Fi'zi:k's Luce was developed from scratch specifically to meet the needs of female riders. This has led Fi'zi:k to develop a saddle unlike any they have produced before, through a process of collaboration with high-performing female riders. The Luce is extra wide at the rear with a sharp taper down to a narrow nose to make sure there is a good balance between posterior support, freedom of movement for the thighs. The shell is designed with three separate sections to further refine the balance between support and flex. The main spine is made from carbon reinforced nylon, with two side panels at the rear co-injected with a thermoplastic elastomer, to make the edges of the saddle simultaneously very strong and flexible. This design choice reduces problems with inner thigh chafing, without compromising support for your spine. Not just concerned with introducing pressure relief and flex at the outer edges of the saddle, the Luce also features a long cut out in the centre of the saddle. For the carbon edition of the Luce, Fi'zi:k re-designed their K:ium rail into the mobius carbon braided rails, in order to make the shape of this saddle and the central cut out possible; whilst keeping weight to bare minimum of 185g for the truly performance driven cyclist. This pressure relief channel has two impacts. The first is what Fi'zi:k call Ischial flex, which essentially means a little bit more give in the area your sit-bones make contact with the saddle, for improved comfort. The cut out itself provides freedom for the riders soft tissues. The regular width saddle will suite riders with relatively lower power:weight ratio and wider hips. Something completely new from Fi'zi:k, the overall result with the Luce is a saddle that provides a honed blend of support and flex tailored to the female anatomy.
