Fi'zi:k's mountain bike shoe range is, unsurprisingly, designed primarily for handling all the challenges off-road riding can present to a rider; however these shoes also make brilliant road and commuting shoes and are generally great all-rounders. Designed for two bolt cleats, they are compatible with the Shimano SPD and Crankbrothers pedals that we stock at Flat Harry's. The M6B is also particularly useful as a shoe for dedicated spin class attendees. Many spin bikes use Shimano's SPD system and the M6B's provide a good quality fit, to avoid blistering or discomfort over long spinning sessions, without costing a large amount of money, making them ideal for spinners.
Fi'zi:k's M6B is an excellent value for money cycling shoe, incorporating many of Fi'zi:k's top design features into a well-made shoe for just over a hundred pounds a pair. The upper part of the shoe is made from laser perforated Microtex, Fi'zi:k's go to material for shoes, saddles and bartape. Microtex is lighter than leather, very durable, good in wet conditions, breathable and easy to clean. The outer part of the sole is made from high friction rubber and the mid-sole is made from carbon-reinforced nylon. The rubber provides great grip when off the bike and the mid-sole provides a stiff base to put your power through for optimal efficiency when pedalling. Whilst all these materials were chosen for their suitability for off-road riding, all these attributes are very useful when riding in urban environments or commuting too.
The M6B has a Boa L5 bridge closure at the top of the shoe, with two Microtex velcro straps lower down, for excellent volume control, to achieve a precise fit. Boa closures are now a staple of Fi'zi:k's cycle shoe range due to their many advantages. A secure system the Boa laces are very firmly held in place once set, avoiding any unwanted movement. The micro-adjust dial allows for very precise control over the fit, with the added benefit of being easy to adjust on the fly and also with the ability to loosen completely with a firm pull for quick putting on and taking off. Last but not least it's a highly durable closure system, with the laces made from aircraft grade stainless-steel, so you can rely on it for secure and comfortable fit for ride after ride. Any good cycling shoe, for road or mountain biking, must have a supportive and highly adjustable fit and this is what Fi'zi:k do brilliantly for all their shoes, including the entry level M6B.
