Argon-18's E-117 frameset is designed to meet the needs of all aspiring triathletes and time trialists, with clear aerodynamic enhancements to help you rise to the challenge. The frames tubing is narrow and deep, with TRP brake callipers concealed behind the forks and seatstays, to really optimise the aerodynamic advantage offered by this frame. A riders positioning is also a big aspect of aerodynamics when cycling, so Argon-18 don't just deliver an aerodynamically shaped frameset, but a frame that encourages aerodynamic positioning when riding. The E-117 is designed with a compact aerodynamic geometry, positioning the rider further forward and lower for optimal aerodynamic profile when riding, whilst making sure that weight distribution remains optimal. The E-117 is designed with Argon-18's 3D head tube system, offering 3 different handlebar heights, so each individual rider can find their best position for comfort and performance. This is an important consideration when trying to maintain a physically demanding aero-position for extended periods of time and a key part of how the E-117 helps riders achieve a comfortable aerodynamic position making a significant difference to performance. The 3D head tube system also has the advantage of being significantly stiffer and more aerodynamic than a traditional steerer tube spacing system for overall improved handling and speed.
In-keeping with Argon 18's “Optimal Balance” philosophy, this frameset doesn't just excel in being aerodynamic, as although aerodynamic enhancements are the key factor for performance in a Triathlon or TT race scenario, excelling in all areas is what elevates a truly excellent Tri/TT frame above the rest. The E-117 delivers in every aspect of frame performance, remaining lightweight, rigid, responsive and comfortable, all characteristics a genuinely top level frame must possess. The frame, brakes, forks and seatpost come in at less than 2kg altogether, which is very light for a Tri/TT frameset. Argon-18's Horizontal dual system means that the carbon lay-up in the lower and frontal tubing of the bike is stiffer than the lay-up of the upper and rear tubing. This means the E-117 delivers impressive power transfer and handling, being rigid and responsive where it needs to be and providing comfort and therefore improved rider endurance, through being more flexible in the area around the seat tube. This lay-up process is expensive, time consuming and painstakingly detailed, but the result is a frame that takes all the areas of cycling performance to the next level. A brilliantly aerodynamic frame that is very well-rounded, The E-117 might just give you the edge you've been looking for on race day.
The sweetly effortless electronic shifting of Shimano Ultegra Di2 feels slick at all times, helping you keep your rhythm and focus when riding and being especially welcome in the latter stages of a race, when small things can make a real difference to your performance and position in the field. Shimano's Di2 is now a very well established technology with years of refinement behind it, making it more reliable and user-friendly than ever. Ultegra 8050 has other improvements in terms of being lighter and capable of taking wider gears than its predecessor, whilst retaining Ultegra's trademark smooth and accurate shifting. Fulcrum's brilliant Racing Quattro wheels and Continental's Grand Sport tyres are a top quality training combination, good to pound the miles out on, straight out of the box. To deliver a bike tailored to suit our respective customers, we will discuss chainset and cassette ratios upon purchase. FSA's Afterburner stem and Vison Trimax carbon aero-bars, provide a high quality cockpit, encouraging the rider to get as low and aerodynamic as possible. A refined package combining a high tech frame and electronic groupset, this bike gives a rider everything they need to lay down a rapid pace at their next Triathlon or TT.
