Fi'zi:k's mountain bike shoe range is, unsurprisingly, designed primarily for handling all the challenges off-road riding can present to a rider; however these shoes also make brilliant road and commuting shoes and are generally great all-rounders. Designed for two bolt cleats, they are compatible with the Shimano SPD and Crankbrothers pedals that we stock at Flat Harry's. This M5 Donna shoe would also be particularly useful for a dedicated spin class attendee with size 42 feet. Many spin bikes use Shimano's SPD system and at £100 this is a relatively inexpensive pair of well fitted and designed shoes you could use for thousands of hours in a spin class.
The M5's Upper is made from Mictoex, Nylon Mesh and anti-scratch leather for a good blend of toughness, style and breathability. Microtex is Fi'zi:k's go to material for shoes, saddles and bartape. Microtex is lighter than leather, very durable, good in wet conditions, breathable and easy to clean. The outer part of the sole is made from high friction rubber and the mid-sole is made from carbon-reinforced nylon. The rubber provides great grip when off the bike and the mid-sole provides a stiff base to put your power through for optimal efficiency when pedalling. Whilst all these materials were chosen for their suitability for off-road riding, all these attributes are very useful when riding in urban environments or commuting too.
The M5's ratchet closure is industrial strength and will keep your foot firmly in place, once you've achieved a fit you're happy with. The Sailcoth velcro straps at the mid-section and toe area of the shoe are brilliant for making sure your metatarsal area is locked in place in a comfortable but firm manner, for smooth powerful pedalling. A combination of quality materials and clever design these M5 Donna's are great for everything from fast paced MTBing to crafty commuting or even sneaky spinning. This is the last pair of M5 Donna's to be sold at Flat Harry's, and they'll be an excellent acquisition for any rider with size 42 feet.
