2018 Whyte 29C Team Matte Black/Orange

Whyte's 29C hardtail frame is stunning. A uni-directional carbon fibre multi-monocoque shell provides excellent stiffness, feel and strength, whilst also weighing in lighter than Whyte's aluminium 29er frames. It's XC race ready with a markedly more aggressive geometry than Whyte's other MTB's, with a sharper head angle and an oversize/undersize chassis design, both of which make for pin-point tracking, a key handling characteristic for XC. The 29” wheels roll brilliantly and carry their speed better than 27.5” wheels, making them ideal for a fast off-road machine. These design choices combine with Whyte's penchant for producing well balanced frames, inclined towards stability and control, to make for a race-ready frame that isn't overly twitchy or short. It's just as water-proof as Whyte's other bikes, utilising their DOX sealed inner cabling system and Whyte's unique weather proof seat clamping system.

The 29C Team is kitted out with all the components necessary for peak performance. The 29C Team uses Fox's top level Float Factory SC 32 100mm fork, winner of the 2016 XC World cup in both the mens and womens category. Fox's “Step-Cast” XC forks are lauded for their lightweight design and top notch suspension performance and the Factory fork on the 29C Team is the best incarnation of this technology available. In keeping with the theme of best for the best, the 29C Team is equipped with SRAM's first class XX1 12spd Eagle groupset. Single chainring groupsets are now entrenched at the top of the MTB hierarchy and with a phenomenal 10-50 tooth 12 speed cassette, SRAM's Eagle groupsets lays claim to being the best ones out there. Staying true to its racey roots, the 29C Team runs a 36 tooth chainring for a high 36:10 top gear, with the ultra-wide range cassette meaning performance on steep climbs is not sacrificed. XX1 is the lightest Eagle groupset SRAM have to offer, making it perfect for Whyte's svelte 29C frame. Similarly SRAM's Level Ultimate disc brakes provide ample braking power, whilst staying efficiently light.

Whyte supply their own carbon hubs and rims, which are light, strong and narrow for greater speed and responsiveness. Whyte also use Maxxis' highest quality Ikon 120TPI 3C tyre, designed for optimal grip and control. The 29 C-Team's wheels and tyres are tubeless ready so you can squeeze every last advantage out of your set-up. Going tubeless reduces your rolling resistance, decreases the chance of punctures and saves you a few precious grams by discarding inner tubes, it could save you quite few seconds on race day.
